Red Hat updates to Fedora 12, Red Hat has released the latest version of its open source operating system, Fedora, which has added new support for video, virtualization and networking. Fedora 12, formerly known as Constantine, includes a new video package called Theora 1.1, improved performance of virtual disk storage and an updated network management software that allows for easier network configuration and mobile access, plus IPv6 support.
From Red Hat Fedora 12 have ensured that the strategy continues with the operating system to incorporate the latest advances. “Our global community of contributors continues to expand, with 25% growth in Accounts Fedora since Fedora was launched 11″, say from Red Hat. According to company data, there have been 2.3 million installations of Fedora 11, which represents an increase of 20% over previous releases.
Other changes include a new IM client called Empathy that includes chat, video and audio and interoperates with AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk, Jabber, MSN Live and MySpace.
Red Hat also has improved support for netbooks and tablets that use a touch-responsive user interface, in addition to enhanced Bluetooth kernel related.
